The Harlem Museum and Welcome Center, Home of the Laurel & Hardy Museum

In honor of one of the comedy’s greatest duos in the world, Laurel & Hardy, the museum is home to memorabilia, artifacts as well as a theatre for visitors to view all of the 106 films they co-created. The exhibit items were donated by fans from all over the globe, and each year thousands flock to Harlem in homage the legendary duo of “The Boys.” Harlem is the home of Oliver Hardy, the portly half of the famous duo. The admission is free, and visitors are invited to stay for an episode or two.

Harlem Museum and Welcome Center

This opened last October 5, 2019, at the Oliver Hardy Festival in Harlem, Georgia. The museum showcases the city’s history, as well as some information on Columbia County.

The Museum’s exhibits were relocated from its former place at the opening of the Harlem Museum and Welcome Center. The new location offers a bigger space and a better display area that allows them to share the incredible tale of Laurel and Hardy and their influence on the world.


The Genesis of Harlem

Harlem Did it First

Harlem was the first city to be incorporated within Columbia County, Georgia. It was a leader in the fashion industry since its inception around 1872 until the beginning of the 20th century.

Celebrating Our People

They celebrate the entire Harlem community and its achievements. They have many residents from Harlem who have done amazing and extraordinary things. Also, they have a section devoted to outstanding citizens, which rotates every three months. Many individuals are recognized for their respective fields of expertise.

The Marvels of Education

The museum showcases the progress from the first bell that was ever used in Harlem through the integration. They are proud of the progress they have made while taking note of the journey that lies ahead.

Museum and Theater

The museum has a space that houses exhibit, retail as well as theater space. They screen Laurel and Hardy movies and an 11-minute biopic on Hardy during the hours of business and 3rd and 2nd Run Movies on the lawn frequently.
